The Navigators of South Texas

Chili’s and The Navigators of South Texas have teamed up for a fundraiser. Pleasanton Chili’s wants you to allow them to do the cooking April 27. When you visit Chili’s on Wednesday or Thursday of this month, they will donate 15 percent of the event’s day sales to The Navigators of South Texas.

St. Andrew Catholic Church’s Annual Parish Picnic

The event the community has been waiting for is nearly here! St. Andrew Catholic Church’s Parish Picnic will be happening on Sunday, May 1. They will be selling their delicious pit cooked barbecue plates with all the trimmings for $8. There will be plenty of fun and games for adults and children, as well as, a country store and plant sale. Join them as they celebrate in their brand new Parish Hall across the street from the church. Volunteers and donations are welcome. For more information please call (830) 569-3356.

Heritage Days

Cowboy Fellowship will be holding its 13th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1. A bake-off will take place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be pies, cakes, brownies, cookies and cheesecake divisions. Prizes will be awarded in both adult and youth categories. A Mutton Busting competition will happen on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. There is a 50 lb. weight limit and all participants will receive a prize. The registration fee for the contest is $20, and there’s only a few spots left! Team Roping books will open at 12 p.m. on Saturday with buckles and various other prizes to be awarded. On Sunday, a Youth Playday will take place with many prizes up for grabs. Books open at 9:30 a.m. and close at 10 a.m. sharp. All participants must attend church. Big Give SA

Local non-profits are preparing for the Big Give SA, a 24-hour day of giving that brings donors and non-profit groups together on May 3. Atascosa County organizations taking part in the event are: Atascosa Family Crisis Center, Children’s Alliance of South Texas- A Child Advocacy Center, Atascosa Health Center, CASA of South Texas, Connections Individual & Family Services Inc., Kayser Animal Rescue Effort, Lytle Community Health Center, Tri-City Animal Sanctuary and Wheelers for the Wounded.
