Not a Black Friday fan

The Way I See It

I’ll admit it. I have never shopped in the Black Friday frenzy. “What” you ask? Yep. Not for me.

Now I will admit that years ago before this whole “get up at midnight or the crack of dawn and head over to grab items out of someone else’s hands” type of shopping started that I indeed did shop on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

This was a more leisurely “get out of the house because we’ve eaten too much and had watched enough football” type of shopping.

I have friends who strategize. They divide and conquer each other’s lists to streamline their shopping ability. Me? I’m usually in “taking down Christmas decorations mode” or watching Hallmark Christmas movies with Kleenex in hand.

Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate a great bargain just like everyone else. But I don’t like to rush into buying gifts. I’m not a huge fan of crowds, either.

And, while stores prepare for this event (the whole concept is that the Friday after Thanksgiving usually placed businesses in the “black” or profit zone – hence the name, just in case you were wonder-wondering…) and depend on it, you will see me on another day.

There just isn’t anything that is offered that I really want to buy that badly.

The way I see it, I’ll never say never. Who knows – in years to come there may be a need to buy an items that is only offered that day. I’ll put on my comfortable shoes and elbow my way to buy it!.
