The No. 23-ranked McMullen County Cowgirls led wire-to-wire to win their area round playoff.

The Cowgirls (20-6) beat North Zulch 62-53 on Saturday, Feb. 20, to advance to the regional quarterfinals for the sixth consecutive year.

Chloe Taylor’s doubledouble of 25 points and 12 rebounds helped lead the Cowgirls past the Bulldogs. Taylor also had six steals and four assists on her stat line for the game.

Charity Harris added 11 points and seven rebounds to help McMullen County to the win. Delaney Smith and Makenzie Shearrer each scored eight points on Saturday. Shearrer also had 11 rebounds for the Cowgirls.

Smith had six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

McMullen County led 26-23 at halftime before outscoring the Bulldogs 36-30 in the second half to seal the win.

The Cowgirls will face D’Hanis Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in Floresville.
