No. 17-ranked Eagles book spot in playoffs

The no. 17-ranked Pleasanton Eagles booked their spot in the playoffs with a pair of dominant wins over Brooks Academy (89-34) on Tuesday, Feb. 4, and Gonzales (84-48) on Friday, Feb. 7.

The wins put the Eagles (28-3, 9-0) on the verge of another District 30-4A title. A win against La Vernia on Tuesday, Feb. 11, would give the Eagles the title once again.

Kameron Parks led the way both nights for the Eagles with 25 points against Brooks and 21 points against Gonzales. Dalton Hobbs had 17 points in both games.

Pleasanton dispatched Brooks on Tuesday with ease, jumping out to a 30-11 lead in the first quarter and a 47-20 lead at halftime.

The Eagles would go on to outscore Brooks 23-3 in the third quarter and 42-14 in the second half to seal the win.

On the road Friday, the Eagles once again used a big first quarter to take control of the game. They outscored the Apaches 21-9 in the first quarter and led 46-26 at halftime.

Parks in the second quarter helped the Eagles extend their lead.

Santiago Arguijo and R.J. Marquez each had threepointers in the second quarter, as well.

Arguijo had eight points with two three-pointers during Pleasanton’s 25-point burst in the third quarter to extend the lead to 71-33.

Arguijo finished with 16 points against Gonzales and Marquez had 12.
