Pleasanton’s Caitlyn Nieschwitz ran in the 4A state cross-country meet on Nov. 3 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, finishing 91st in 13:14.

Nieschwitz used a similar strategy in the 151-runner field to what she had in the Oct. 22 regional, running on the outside on the curves.

She battled 21-mileper hour winds, which produced headwinds in the first half of the twomile race and gusts from behind in the finishing portion.

There were a few significant hills and a dip shortly before the finish line.

Nieschwitz, a freshman who set the school record in the regional, said she had much to take from her first trip to the state meet.

“I had a great experience for my first time here. I had a great time and learned how to prepare for next year,” she said.
