On Wednesday, March 9, Poteet ISD celebrated the completion of two projects, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at Poteet Junior High School.

Poteet ISD Superintendent Andy Castillo welcomed everyone, on behalf of Poteet ISD and the Poteet ISD School Board. He described it as a great day for Poteet Aggie history, with the expansion of the Poteet Junior High Gymnasium and Cafeteria.

“These facilities are for the present and the future Poteet Aggie students. I want to take this time to congratulate the community of Poteet for the vision and the teamwork it took to make this happen,” said Castillo.

He recognized those who worked alongside him on the project

“They spent many hours of their time to ensure that this project happened and that is our school board,” added Castillo.

They are: school board president Barbara Reyes, school board vice-president Louis Vasquez, school board secretary David Herrera, school board member Cynthia Hograves, school board member Henry Ortiz, school board member Jo Marie Cervantez and school board member Yvette Navarro.

“I would like to thank one other individual who made this project so much easier for us. He oversaw the entire thing and was really our go-to guy, and that is Russell Rodriguez.

I want to thank all the school personnel, city and county officials and the community members who are here to support this endeavor. We understand that your support was also instrumental in making this happen. Without further ado, welcome to the addition of the Poteet Junior High Campus.”

These recent additions are part of Phase 3 of the Poteet ISD Bond Project.
