Just a reminder that the Atascosa Family Crisis Center and Pleasanton Police Department will host a free Movie Night this Friday, June 30. The event will take place at the Atascosa River Park in Pleasanton, starting at approximately 8:30 p.m. (around sunset), where families can enjoy a free screening of The Sandlot at the baseball fields.
Informational booths will be set up at the big pavilion and they will begin handing out snacks and drinks around 7:30 p.m. while supplies last. Entry for Movie Night will be at the big pavilion.
Those attending are welcome to bring their own snacks and drinks. However, this is a family event, so alcohol will not be allowed.
Everyone is asked to please bring their blankets and lawn chairs for a night under the stars. The Hermann Sons Lodge of Jourdanton will also raffle a beautiful handmade patriotic quilt. The drawing will be before the movie begins. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
Friday, July 28 will be the next Movie Night. At the same time and place, families can watch a free screening of the animated film Toy Story.
Another event being planned is the Anti-Bullying Rally on Friday, August 4, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Atascosa River Park in Pleasanton. The center also invites community members to join them in spreading awareness against bullying by posting a picture that says, I will be a HERO.
Donations such as jars of pickles, sodas, water and ice are needed for the events. Anyone interested in donating items may contact Shawnene at 830-281-2001, Monday-Friday, or you may email her at email@example.com.
