Methodist Hospital | South CEO Greg Seiler Comments:

“The health of our patients, our employees and our community will always be our top priority,” said Greg Seiler, CEO of Methodist Hospital | South.  “We understand that these new protocols represent a marked change from day-to-day hospital procedures, but they have been put into place as part of that commitment to all whom we serve. The steps we take today will be key to stemming the spread of this virus in the days and weeks to come.”

News Advisory:

In light of the growing concern with COVID-19 spread and with the news today that San Antonio now has community transmission (Bexar County) of the virus, the healthcare systems in San Antonio have jointly agreed to limit all non-essential planned surgeries and procedures, including dental procedures until further notice. This is in compliance with the recommendations issued yesterday by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and is a critically important step in limiting the spread of COVID19. Consistent with this guidance, decisions about surgery will continue to be determined by those surgeons who have direct responsibility to their patients.

San Antonio area hospitals will also begin limiting any visitors to hospitals with exceptions for special patient populations. Visitors will be allowed for the following circumstances: Childbirth, End of Life, parent of pediatric patients, and goodbye visit of military personnel departing for deployment.

COVID-19 is a serious situation and continues to evolve. San Antonio area hospitals will continue to evaluate and respond to provide the best and safest care possible in these challenging times.
