Atascosa County sheriff’s deputies made a major Methamphetamine Ice bust last Wednesday night after a traffic stop south of Strawberry City Road on U.S. 281 between Leming and Pleasanton.
Deputy Sheriff Stephen Wilson stopped a 1999 Ford Mustang for a traffic violation. Deputy Wilson observed what he believed to be indications of the presence of narcotics.
After receiving consent from the driver to search the vehicle, Deputy Wilson located a large package containing approximately 120 grams of high-grade methamphetamine ice.
The drugs have a street value of $12,000 according to Atascosa County Sheriff David Soward.
Deputy Wilson was assisted at the scene by Sergeant Deputy Kevin Draughn, Sergeant Investigator Max Peralta and DPS Trooper.
Sheriff’s deputies also seized $1,875 in US currency that is suspected to be proceeds from drug dealing. The sheriff’s office also seized the Ford Mustang.
Sheriff Soward said the seizure of the cash and Mustang will be turned over to District Attorney Rene Pena’s office for court forfeiture proceedings.
Sheriff Soward stated that the arrest and seizure was a significant bust for the department. “These are drugs that we believe were destined for sale here in Atascosa County and they have been taken off the streets,” the Sheriff said.
Arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance over 4 Grams were, Elsa Robles 47, 1035 W. Oaklawn, Lot D, Pleasanton and Christine Davis 51, same address. Robles was released on bond and Davis remains in the Atascosa County Jail.
