Merry on Main Talent Show brings money and fame

Atascosa County has been home to some of the biggest stars in the country. George Strait was born in Poteet. Willie Nelson worked at KBOP radio. Jerry DeLeon is currently on the country charts. Poteet native David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales are award winning fan favorites. Who will be this community’s next breakout star at the Merry on Main Talent Show held as part of the two-day Christmas Festival?

If you are a budding artist between the ages of 5 and 100, please enter the Merry on Main Talent show held at the Pleasanton River Park, Friday, Dec. 3. There are cash prizes and the opportunity to grab your claim to fame on the big stage.

It is so easy to enter. Simply have someone video you doing your special talent and email it to by Nov. 22. All Ms. Terri Cuevas, Merry on Main, Committee Chair needs is a oneminute video. If you miss the video deadline, open auditions are planned for Wednesday, November 24 at the Pleasanton Civic Center. This year to make sure that everyone has a chance at cash prizes, another youth category has been added. The age groups are 5-10, 11-17 and 18-plus. Merry on Main is looking for all types of talent – singing, dancing and comedy. The top seven contestants chosen from the video/ open auditions in each age group will perform at the Merry on Main Talent Show. Prizes per age group will be 1st place $300, 2nd place $200 and 3rd place $100.



Additionally, besides the cash prize, the winner of the 18-plus group will have the chance to perform at the ‘Merrier on Main’ street dance and concert in downtown Pleasanton with David Lee Garza on Dec. 4.

The talent show will be hosted by the one and only Cleto Rodriguez! Showcase your talent and submit your one-minute video to entertainment@ to be considered. Video must include name, age, performance category (vocal, comedy, instrumental, dance, etc.)

The Merry on Main committee gives a huge thank you to Cuevas and Country Girl Designs for also providing the cash prize money for the adult and teen group and to John Mayse of JM Connected for providing the funds for the 5-10 year olds.
