Downtown Pleasanton will be bustling with holiday cheer with the kick off of Merry on Main Friday, Dec. 14 – 15. The city of Pleasanton, the Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Department, the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, the Pleasanton Express and local downtown merchants are working collaboratively to bring a joyous Christmas celebration to the community.
Events planned for the two-day extravaganza are free (except for food and vendors). Plans for the two-days include: old fashion children’s carnival, day tricycle and bicycle parade, lighted night parade with Santa, carolling by local churches, cookie contest, cupcake walk, pictures with Santa, entertainment, a Santa Fun Run, readings with Mrs. Claus, cookies and milk, residential and business light contest winners, food trucks and vendors galore.
The Christmas celebration will take place primarily down Main Street and surrounding the Pleasanton Community Center. For the first time ever the Plestex will participate by playing Christmas favorite Home Alone for free at 10:00 a.m., Dec. 15.
Merry on Main began in 2016 by the Downtown Merchants Association. The Downtown Merchants Association is now a non-active 501c3. However downtown merchants are very active in this collaborative effort. If you are a downtown merchant who is currently participating, please join the planning meetings. The next meeting is held at the Pleasanton Civic Center, Oct. 4, 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome.
For businesses and vendors who wish to have booths or pop-ups, please contact Cindy Mumm at the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, 830-569-2163 or stop by the chamber office. Space is filling up fast.
