For the first time at Merry on Main, a live production of “Christmas Story – The Reason for the Season” was presented on Stage 1 at the Plestex Movie Theatre, Saturday, Dec. 5.

Robert L. Hurley produced and directed and Lucinda Vickers directed this Christmas presentation of the story of Jesus Christ. The script adaptation was done by Robert Hurley, with appreciation to portion of script by Tanis Harms and Dramatix, edited by Robert Hurley.

“We are very pleased with the outcome of our first production of ‘Christmas Story – the Reason For the Season.’ There are so many people to thank, from the actors and workers who helped to put it on plus the Pleasanton Express which provided beautiful programs, signs and graphics, and also the Merry on Main committee who gave such strong support. The Plestex Theatre (Jacob Henson) provided their stage. Even the ‘Christmas Village’ folks helped with a few costumes and ACT (Atascosa County Troupe) was key support in many ways,” said Hurley.

“We had decent first time attendance, with a total of over 150 attendees for three shows. The weather was not helping yet we had strong responsive crowds. We hope we can do it every year to keep Jesus in the season!”

The Merry on Main committee would like to greatly thank all the cast that included:

Peter – Clyde Butter, Herod – Justin Vasquez, Wise Man 1– Seth Hunt, Wise Man 2 – Rob Pierce, Wise Man 3 – Bob Hunt, Court Priest – Farlon Presnell, Nicodemus – Tony Casias, Hannah – Jolynn Casias, Shimhe – Gus Estrada, Sarah – Payton Swan, Joseph of Arimethea – Eli Hunt, Jesus – Dallas Owen, Samaritan woman – Carola Barcomb, Mary (young) – Jillian Barcomb, Joseph – Gus Estrada, Elizabeth – Jessica Maxwell, Mary (mature) at the cross – Melissa Sutherland Hunt, Props/Costumes – Jess Hunt, Loma Foster and Linda Fuentes.

Thanks to Atascosa County Troupe (ACT) for its support of this production. Thanks to Jessica Maxwell for all she has done to make this play happen. Thanks to “Christmas Village” for the loan of costumes and props.
