McMullen County has continued their high level of play, winning their last five games. The Cowboys (21-4) picked up two wins last week for their final non-district games.

Last Tuesday night, McMullen County defeated Kenedy by a score of 74-40. Senior Troy Allen led the way for the team with 14 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Junior Brayden Serrata finished with a team-high eight rebounds.

The Cowboys used their momentum to pick up another win last Friday night, defeating Port Aransas 50-21. Junior Shawn Heritage recorded a double-double, recording 13 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Rudy Mesa also contributed with 13 points and seven steals. As a team, the Cowboys took four charges.

With a 21-4 record, McMullen County is currently ranked fourth in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ (TABC) Poll. The Cowboys kicked off district play this week with a Tuesday night game at Benavides. Friday night they’ll host Lasara. First tip is schedSee uled for 7 p.m.
