There is a different feeling in the air. The change in the weather makes it more comfortable to be outside. Spring and fall are my favorite times of the year. I enjoy working on projects around the house and spending time outside with family and friends. Going to football games, volleyball and cross county events are a big part of the fall activities that are important to children, parents, family and friends. September will soon be over and many holidays will follow. Everyone (including me) is anxious to get together to do fun things and make good memories.
With the governor’s new guidelines recently released regarding COVID 19 and opening up more businesses and increasing occupancy restrictions, everyone can enjoy sharing time with family and friends while following the recommended CDC safety guidelines. Our city will also be making some changes to our emergency declaration and restrictions. The information will be posted on the city’s webpage and Facebook page.
On a very exciting note, the Cowboy Connect will have a grand opening ceremony next week on Oct. 1, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. We will conduct a ribbon cutting next to the city hall next to the mural wall. Everyone is welcome to come to witness the memorial event of the first commuter shuttle system in Atascosa County.
There will be a parade through Poteet this Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, at 5:30 p.m. to show support to our Aggie football, volleyball and cross-country teams. The parade route will be the Strawberry Festival route through town. I ask everyone to line up the streets following the CDC safety guidelines and maintain social distancing. Let’s make this a great and safe event to show our community’s support to all our Poteet Athletes.
Gig ’em Aggies!
