Mayor’s Message – Pleasanton

Greetings from the Mayor’s office, This Saturday marks an exciting day here in our city. It is the Grand Opening of the Jim Collums’ Windmill Exhibit from the Longhorn Museum beginning at 11:30 a.m. This has been a work in progress for Jim and, after being delayed for a year by the pandemic, we will finally have the opening of one of the most unique windmill exhibits, not only in the state, but in the nation. We owe Mr. Collums a big dose of gratitude and thanks for selecting our city and the museum to donate this major part of history that will be on display for decades to come. Please join us this Saturday for a “one of a kind” grand opening for a “one of a kind” exhibit with a “one of a kind” individual, Jim Collums.

Ropin’ at the River this past weekend was a huge success and thanks to everyone who took part in the many different events at our River Park. A special thanks to our Parks and Rec Department and all the city employees for setting up R at the R and their hard work. And thanks to Ropin’ Dreams for a wonderful rodeo on Friday and Saturday nights. Looking forward to next year’s event.

This is my final full week as Mayor of this city. During next council meeting on Thursday, May 20, Mayor Elect Clint Powell and two council members will take the oath of office. This past Monday was also my last Monday to meet with the public after approximately 135 meetings in the past three years. I will have one final column this next Monday to bid farewell. Until then, best regards and good health to all.
