Greetings from the Mayor’s office: We are entering an exciting time of the year with our first major cold front this week putting temperatures in the 40s and with Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays just around the corner. I’m looking forward to hot chocolate, chili, getting into a winter wardrobe and turning off that AC. Also looking forward to beginning some of our city projects that have been on hold for the past eight months. Continuing our street maintenance program, continued renovation of the city park, completing a Master Plan for the elementary school building on Main plus more. I have been asked by more than one person as to what the city is going to do with the old elementary. We will eventually turn it into a business store front that will enhance our Historic Main Street with several spaces for businesses. The back side of the old school will be used for our new Amphitheater location, the same place I played junior high football, as well as additional parking spaces. The concrete bleachers are still there and will be utilized for seating. But, we will proceed cautiously as money and grants become available and hopefully get this COVID-19 behind us once a vaccine is approved and ready. In the meantime, the virus is still here and let’s continue to do what we can to prevent new cases. Until next week, best regards and good health.
