Mayor’s Message – Pleasanton

Greetings from the Mayor’s office: I hope this week’s column finds you in good health and lookin’ forward to better days ahead. After seven months of our city facilities being closed, we are set to open this Friday Sept. 25. The city park will reopen the splash pad, skatepark and playground areas to the public. The plan is simply to remain open for as long as we can and be aware that the virus is still out there. This will also include the sports complex area.

“Merry on Main” is still on schedule for this December and we anticipate staging the event. It will be “bigger and better,” so make your plans to attend. Keep an eye on the Pleasanton Express for details. The most common question the past few days is whether there will be restrictions on Halloween. If there are, any restrictions will come from the State level and not the city level. I have heard of none thus far and parents, it will be your call.

A huge thanks to EVERYONE who had any part this past weekend with the food distribution in the city park. Something on this scale is an enormous undertaking and everyone came thru, especially our city employees who donated their time, the volunteers who distributed the food and the San Antonio Food Bank. My thanks to all who participated. Until next week, best regards and good health … and let’s continue to do everything we can to help prevent the spread of the virus.
