Greetings from the Mayor’s office: I would like to send out a big thanks to Ursula Pari and the folks at KSAT-TV for spotlighting our city this past Monday during the Rodeo segment of the 12-noon newscast. The three-minute segment featured, “Pleasanton, Birthplace of the Cowboy” and why we are known for this slogan. It was quite impressive, informative, and right on target. I hope you got to see it.
Along with the Cowboy Homecoming and Merry on Main, a third celebration has been added for family activities here in Pleasanton. Our Parks and Recreation Department is heading up the new Memorial Day celebration. It is scheduled for Saturday, May 23 at 3 p.m. The festivities will begin with a “Memorial March” from the Freedom Center to the River Park to honor the men and women who have died in military service to this county. Upon arrival at the park, hot dogs and hamburgers will be available as well as live music, family activities, and later that night, a large fireworks display. So, we invite you to plan now to attend and wear your red, white and blue. More on this as it becomes available.
Just a quick note: City Hall will be closed this Monday, Feb. 17 for President’s Day. I will resume my Monday citizen sessions on February 24 at 1:30 p.m. Until then, best regards.
