Greetings from the Mayor’s office: Time seems to be moving along at a high rate of speed and I’m wondering what happened to January. Moving into February brings the end of our annual city audit. The results of the audit should be available at the council meeting of February 20. If you are interested in hearing the results, I invite you to attend the council meeting. Our past audits have been outstanding and I expect this one to be the same.
We have recently been handed a completed Water and Sewer Rate Analysis study and will decide in the near future whether rates should be increased. We have not had a rate increase since 2015. As the city continues to grow, the demand for water and sewer services increase. The City has purchased property within the past year for the sole purpose of drilling additional wells. We have also been presented a proposal for the renovation of our outdated Waste Water Treatment plant. This renovation project has been needed for quite some time. We will look at it closer the next budget year. As my father used to say, “If you outgrow your shoes, you either get larger ones or you continue to walk in uncomfortable, tight foot wear. And sooner or later, you’re forced to move to a larger size or quit walking.” I think this city is ready to move to a larger size. Will keep you posted. Until next week, best regards.
