Mayor’s Message – Pleasanton

Greetings from the Mayor’s office: We announced at the last council meeting that the city has signed an agreement with the Air Force allowing them to begin touch and go operations at our airport. Been working on this for some time now and closed the deal recently with Joint Base Randolph San Antonio. Naval pilots have been doing touch and go procedures for several weeks now and we are proud to welcome the Air Force. A selling point for Air Force officials was that the Fire Station and Air Med were in close proximity to the airport. Thanks to JJ Roberts, Airport Manager and Johnny Huizar, City Manager, for their efforts on this project.

It is with sadness that we have lost a former Pleasanton City Councilman with the recent passing of Robert Brown. Honoring those who came before us, Mr. Brown served this city from 1981 to 1987 and had a hand in making Pleasanton what it is today. He was a master dragline operator and I remember him doing a lot of work in the city park, along the river, as he set a path for us to follow. He and his employer, Jimmie Palmer, spent a lot of time keeping the river and river park in pristine appearance and helping to move this city in a positive direction. He will be greatly missed.

Looking forward to the coming months as we prepare for the holidays. “Merry on Main” is in the final planning stages and will be spectacular this year with new attractions. Will keep you posted. Until next week…….best regards.
