Mayor’s Message – Pleasanton

I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving and long weekend. It is nice to have people in and out over the course of the week. It also brings college kids home and relatives from out of town. For me this holiday has always had a longer guest list than any other. I think that is why it is one of my favorite holidays—the diverse guest list. We have the same list of family and friends that are the usual suspects. In addition, I really enjoy hosting those who did not have a definite place to be or were displaced because of work. That brings me to what I’m thankful for, my family and friends. I’m not going to lie; I kind a like the leftovers, too. We are in the holiday season and to celebrate that, there are some events going on this weekend. I mentioned them a few articles ago. They are Merry on Main, Blue Santa Softball Tournament and Vintage in Verdi. I think it is great that we have so much going on that gives people an opportunity to get out and enjoy the community. As I alluded to in the above paragraph, to me, a lot of the joy of holidays is family and friends. Getting together. This gives us an opportunity to get together as a community and enjoy each other‘s company. Merry on Main is a citysponsored event run by a committee. It is a free event that sees a large attendance. I look forward to seeing you all at one or all of the events. As we attend these events let us not forget the reason we celebrate Dec. 25.

As we’re coming to the end of the calendar year 2021, the city’s last meeting will be Thursday, Dec. 2. I always encourage people to attend the meetings to understand what is going on with the city and how it is improving. Even through the difficult work environment of the pandemic, the city has fared well and worked to keep its employees employed. In addition, the employees work hard to make sure her services continued. Yes, we’re all recovering from recent events. We continue to monitor the city’s progress and improvement. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.
