Mayor’s Message – Pleasanton

A week from today, Wednesday, Oct. 20, the city of

Pleasanton will host a free Collaborative Career & Job Fair with Workforce Solutions Alamo and Coastal Bend College. Coastal Bend College will be providing information on trade and certificate programs. The event is being coordinated by EMC Strategy Group, LLC. EMC is the city of Pleasanton’s consultant on economic development. There will be two sessions: 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. for 11th and 12th grade high school students and 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. for the general public. All Atascosa County ISDs are invited and encouraged to participate.

This will be the third career fair collaboration. Previous years were 2018 and 2019. (There was not one in 2020 due to COVID 19.) This is important to job seekers as well as the public and private sectors. Because of recent events, businesses are hurting for employees. The impact has caused some businesses to have reduced hours and services. Everyone involved with and connected to this event is hoping it will spur economic development. I would like to thank everyone that helped make this happen and the employers that participate.

Following are participating employers as of Oct. 11:

AACOG, Aerpet, Aetna – CHIP & Medicaid Services, Alamo Area Council of Governments Veterans Program, Camino Real Community Services, Chalk Mountain, Child Protective Services, City of Poteet, Coastal Bend College, DPS, HHSC -Child Care Regulation, Navistar, Pilot Travel Center, Pleasanton City Library, Resource MFG, Retama Manor, SAVA Senior Care, Tellus Equipment – John Deere, US Army, US Border Patrol, US Marine Corp., US Navy, Workforce Solutions Alamo and Pearsall Nursing and Rehab.

If you are looking for employees, please contact EMC today! Employers must sign up to participate by contacting EMC via email to alexandria. or by phone at 210- 960-4340, ext. 106. Employers are encouraged to bring applications, and some may do onsite interviews. Job seekers can just show up. If you are looking for a job, bring some resumes and dress appropriately. This is a great opportunity for our community and I ask that you pass the information along. We want to reach as many as possible. IT’S FREE! Let’s get to work!
