Mayor’s Message – Pleasanton

Greetings from the Mayor’s office: As August and the hot weather continues, water usage in Pleasanton is at an all time high. A lot of the water use during this time of the year is for watering yards. I would ask if you are on a schedule to water your yard that you do so either overnight or early in the morning. Watering between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m., only a small percentage of the water is consumed by the ground, especially if the temperature is around 100 degrees. Evaporation occurs quickly in this kind of weather and hopefully we will receive some measurable rain before long.

Linda and I went out to the Young Farmers’ “Cowboy of the Year” and “Cowboy Hall of Fame” rodeo this past weekend and really enjoyed the activities. The Young Farmers put on quite a rodeo and it takes a lot of hard work and effort. “Hats off” to them for a great show.

We are now in the process of finalizing our budget for this coming year and it really looks good. We are holding the tax rate the same as this past year and continuing to spend wisely. Our staff is putting final touches on the new budget which begins October 1. And by the way……..Some folks have asked where we are on the “Arches” for Historic Main St. I just got back the structural drawings and they look great. We will be able to install one after October 1 this year and the other after October 1, 2020.

Until next week………. best regards.
