Mayor’s Message – Charlotte

I want to share a few updates about what’s going on in the City of

Charlotte right now.

We are currently working on the splash pad at Davenport Park. Water was coming off of the pad causing still water to collect around it. We were concerned about the safety of the children, so the city is currently installing concrete and drainage pipes. The city is looking at possibly reopening the park and splash pad on June 8 at regular hours. There are currently no park rentals available until at least July 1. This is subject to change at the city’s discretion. The new library is coming along great! This has been about a 20-year project of the city. Due to COVID-19, the progress has been slowed some, but we are hoping to have it completed by July 1. We are almost done with the water tower project and hope to have it painted and looking great real soon.

If you don’t know, the company that picks up our trash has stated that they will only pick up trash cans that are company issued containers. They will no longer pick up any personal cans or trash bags. Please remember to only put trash in these containers. Do not put any bricks, brush or other materials in them.

Remember, we are having our parade this Friday, May 29, to celebrate the Charlotte Class of 2020 graduating seniors. It starts at 7 p.m. at the fire station and will make its way through the streets of town led by one of our very own fire trucks. Everyone is encouraged to come out and show your support for these seniors and remember to practice social distancing.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call City Hall at 830-277-1414.
