Mayor’s Message

Greetings from the Mayor’s office: There have been many questions from citizens concerning the opening of the renovated and updated City Park. Especially “When is the Splash Pad and Skate Park going to open?” Let me give you the information that I have and the target dates. All of these preliminary target dates depend on the weather and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the work will continue as planned and the weather will cooperate.

The Splash Pad, Skate Park, parking lot and paved road adjacent to these, should be completed by July 4th weekend. So, we are planning a “soft opening” for the splash pad and the skate park at that time. Renovation will continue in other areas and we’re looking at this Labor Day weekend for the Grand Opening of the park itself.

There is a lot of excitement around town from folks of all ages and especially parents and youngsters, as to the anticipated opening. If you haven’t had a chance to see the skate park and splash pad, they are quite impressive and will be enjoyed by all. This is something this city has needed for a long time and we are almost there. Construction on the new pavilions and rest rooms will soon begin and the LED lights are going up around the park as this column is being written. It should be a wonderful upcoming Labor Day weekend in September.

Until next week, best regards.
