Greetings from the Mayor’s office: I wanted to bring you up to date on the progress we have made over the past year with our animal shelter. I am very pleased we have come this far and will continue to move in a positive direction concerning the animal shelter. With the help of the Atascosa Animal Allies, we are now a rescue shelter and have two part-time AAA employees, Brenda Gibbon and Eydie Groenke who are working to clean, vaccinate, microchip and care for the dogs that are brought in. On Thursday of last week, fourteen (14) dogs were prepared for transport. With the assistance of the city’s Animal Control Officers, Felipe Leal and Leandro Garcia, we now have a “super bowl” team in place to give the animals the care and attention they deserve and that’s exactly what we all want to see. So I say “Thank You” to our ACOs and the AAA for a job well done. I would ask that if any of you are interested in supporting the Allies, please do so. Go to their website (www.atascosaanimalallies.org) and give what you can monetarily. There is a PayPal button on the home page. If anyone wants to give a check they can drop off or mail to Threads at 307 2nd Street Pleasanton, Tx 78064. The funds will be used to continue the much needed care and yes, myself and the City Council will continue to support in any way we can to help make it better. Until next week, best regards.
