Mayor’s Message

Greetings from the Mayor’s office: In the past several weeks, I have been visiting with you concerning some upcoming projects including changes concerning the Cowboy Homecoming. Brad and Cindy Mumm attended last weeks Council meeting and brought forward some great ideas for the Homecoming which will be announced in the coming weeks. An idea was brought to me several months ago by Myron Repka and Norman Porter and I haven’t said anything about it publicly making sure that the city would have the funds to complete. This item will be included in the upcoming budget and we are excited to bring you the news. As Mayor of this city, myself and City Council members will be declaring the downtown area as “Historic Main Street”. We will do so through a City Proclamation and plan to have arches erected at the south part of Main as well as the northern most point, around the area of Main and Veterans Blvd., proclaiming Main St., running from Hunt St. north to Bensdale as “Historic Main Street”. This historic street was used regularly to drive cattle north through Pleasanton and continues to be full of rich history. For an example as to what the arches might look like…they will be similar to those located at the Civic Center and Library. I hope to have this completed the later part of summer or early fall. Until then……have a great week and best regards.
