Greetings from the Mayor’s Office: We have our first official rainfall report from the Pleasanton Municipal Airport. Several weeks ago, I asked our City Manager, Johnny Huizar, and our Airport Manager, J.J. Roberts, to report any rainfall that the city received and make it official. Partnering with the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), the airport measured 3.82 inches, which covers the period 10- 1-18 thru 10-29-18.
And speaking of our airport, I was very pleased to hear that the city received over a half million dollars from TXDOT Aviation to repave the runways and taxi ways as we continue to search out ways to improve one of Pleasanton’s most valuable assets. This week, I will be in Corpus Christi for the 2018 Texas Downtown Conference sponsored by the Texas Downtown Association and Texas Main Street Program. I hope to learn about active downtown revitalization programs as part of larger economic development efforts as well as successful efforts that can be duplicated from other cities. The conference will focus on the links between downtown development and a community’s overall economic development strategy and how a successful downtown can attract primary job providers.
I’ll have more in next week’s column. Until then,
TRAVIS HALL is the Mayor of Pleasanton. You may E-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
