Greetings from the Mayor’s office:
I love cold weather and am looking forward to the upcoming fall and winter months. It is the best time to be outside with cooler temps and less humidity for daily activities.
Our city Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up to offer several outdoor activities to include programs, leagues and events for almost everyone. A Co-Ed Softball League will begin September 23 with game days on Sunday, tentatively set at 5 p.m. Registration fee is $150 per team.
Beginning September 20 is the fall Co-Ed Kickball League with game days on Thursdays, tentatively set at 6:30 p.m. Registration fee is $150 per team.
If you’re interested in one day tournaments, we invite you to be part of the Wiffle Ball Home Run Derby on September
22 at the Pleasanton River Park beginning at 10 a.m. Pre-registration is $20 with on-site registration at $25. Or perhaps the Indoor Dodgeball tournament on Friday, Nov. 16 at the Civic Center. Pre-registration is $25 per team or on-site registration is $30. Keep in mind, all proceeds from these tournaments will go directly to the Parks Foundation.
These are some of the upcoming activities being offered by our Rec Department and if you’re interested in participating or have an idea for an activity, contact Greg Leach at 830-569-3155 or Tony Aguirre at 830- 569-5904 or stop by the civic center and city hall and pick up an activity booklet.
Until next week, best regards.
