Greetings from the Mayor’s office:
Recently, Linda and I had the pleasure of being invited to Coastal Bend College branch campus here in Pleasanton for their Cougar Days, new student orientation. Thanks to Benito Tamez, Site Facilitator, and Julia Garcia, Dean of Workforce Training, for the invitation.
This is actually the first time for me to visit and I can say I was quite impressed with their facility and staff. Coastal Bend offers a variety of educational opportunities for those who wish to continue their education. Coastal Bend is a community college with its main campus in Beeville and operates branch campuses in Alice, Kingsville and Pleasanton.
We were given a tour and introduced to most of the Coastal Bend employees and those students who had gathered for the orientation. The room was full and the students attending had come from not only Pleasanton, but surrounding cities and counties.
Quite impressed with the “user-friendly” classrooms and the dedicated admin and teaching staff. If you haven’t done so, please stop by the branch campus on FM 476 and Encino Drive for a visit and if you are interested in continuing your education, check out their website. This city is proud to have Coastal Bend College a part of this community.
Just a reminder: I will not be at City Hall this coming Monday, Aug. 20. I have a prior commitment and will be back for my Monday open door session on August 27 from 1:30-3 p.m. I will also take a break from my weekly column next week.
Until then, best regards.
