Greetings from the Mayor’s office:
This week, I thought I would visit with you about two very important subjects: city street reconstruction and the park renovation project.
Our Street Improvement Recostruction program continues and those streets designated in this next budget year include Reed St. and Live Oak St. at a cost of $1,240,579.67. D&D Contractors will continue to do the work and were awarded the bid at our last city council meeting.
Other streets that will be repaved include Grant, Tessman Rd., McGuffin, Edgehill, Crown Hill and Virginia St. These streets will be done inhouse by our city street construction crew and their asphalt laydown machine, which will save taxpayers thousands of dollars. The crew does a wonderful job and recently completed the parking lots at the Longhorn Museum and the old library building on Main as well as Patrick St. from Florida to Live Oak St.
The Park Renovation Project is off and running. The new Splash Pad contract was awarded this past Thursday and the contract for the Skate Park is due to be awarded on August 16. Construction on these two projects should begin soon.
We continue to move the city in a positive direction and couldn’t do it without the leadership of our city manager and employees.
Have a good week and until then…best regards.
