MARY WHITE

Mary Evelyn R. White died on August 16, 2016 at Kansas City, Missouri of cancer. Born to Gladys Evelyn Wall Miller and Charles Largen Miller in Pleasanton on 5 October 1926, she was later adopted by her stepfather, George Andre Rauer. She was a graduate of Cornell University, a member of Sigma Kappa and married Francis B. White in 1952. As a teenager in New York she volunteered at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Later in New Jersey she was a volunteer at Rahway Hospital and at the Colonia Library. In Randolph, New Jersey she was active in the PTA and served on the Board of Education. After retirement to Arkansas, Mrs. White served on the Board of Directors of Bella Vista and was a Habitat volunteer. Following the death of her husband in 1997, Mrs. White moved to Kansas. She is mourned by Lt. Col. (Ret.) Daniel White, his wife, Kaija, their daughters, Micah Erin and Kaitlin Leigh and her husband, Michael; and by Dr. Thomas White, his wife Meko and their children, Halladay, Anna, Elena and Leif.

Mrs. White was a parishioner of Hope Lutheran Church. Her memorial service will be held at that church at the corner of Quivira Rd and Shawnee Mission Parkway in Shawnee on Saturday, August 27th at 11 a.m. with a visitation starting at 10 a.m. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Hope Lutheran Church School Endowment Fund, the University of Kansas Cancer Center or the another charity of your choice.
