Mary P. Ortiz passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, at the age of 90. She was born in Pleasanton, on Jan. 21, 1931, to Samuel Pena and Juanita (Garcia) Pena.

Mary was a housewife who devoted her life to her husband, Rudolfo. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister and tia (aunt). She had a smile that would brighten up any room and she loved to cook food that was comforting to her family, which included making the best homemade tortillas.

Mary took great care of her plants that she grew, both inside and outside, and would be ready to watch her Novelas, as she enjoyed watching them, with Sabado Gigante being her favorite. She had a great love for dancing and loved to go to dances with her partner and husband, Rudolfo, who was one of the greatest dancers. Together they loved to waltz and if you had the opportunity to see them dance, it was like they were dancing on clouds. She will be greatly missed, for now she is dancing in the clouds.

Mary is survived by her children, Carmen (Manuel) Cordova, Robert (Norma) Ortiz, Ruben (Olivia) Ortiz and Roger Ortiz; grandchildren, Robert Marion Ortiz, Ysidro Samuel (Judy) Ortiz, Melinda Louise (Arthur) Garcia, Thomas Andrew (Laura) Cordova, Sonya Marie Ortiz, Michael Vincent Ortiz, Maria Luisa Ortiz and Juan Antonio Ortiz; greatgrandchildren, Abigail, Elena, Brianna, Joe Manuel, Kaitlyn, Mason, Lainey, Jason, Athena, Christain, Sidney and Sonny; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Rudolfo, parents, Samuel and Juanita Garcia Pena; grandparents, Patricio and Panchita Garcia; in-laws, Ysidro and Maria Ortiz; siblings, Pedro “Pete” Pena, Bernaldo “Nano” Pena, Sr., Helen Pena Morales and Francis Pena Benitez.
