Martha Louise (Haak) Hemphill took the hand of Jesus, and went to her heavenly home on September 5, 2016. She will be remembered as a strong woman, loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.
She was born on August 18, 1926 in Oakville, Texas to Henry and Ida Viola (Humphries) Haak. She grew up roller skating in the old school house with her big brother LeeRoy, going to the movies, and playing games with her friends Louise graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1945. She married Charles A. Hemphill, Sr. on May 27, 1945. They had three children, and enjoyed 44 years of marriage.
Louise retired from Southwestern Bell after 38 years of service. She was a member of the Oakville Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Oakville and Poteet Chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1971. Known by her grandkids as Weese, Granny, and Granny Weese, her passions included quilting (especially Dutch Dolls), cheering on the Spurs and Cowboys, and playing an active role in all of her kids and grandkids lives. Hands down, she was THE best pie-maker of the family.
She is survived by three children: Danny Hemphill Sr. (Brenda) of Three Rivers; Ginny Lamb (Buster) of Weatherford, Texas; Charles Hemphill Jr. (Betsy) of Three Rivers, Texas; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-greatgrandchildren.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband Charles; parents Henry and Ida Viola (Humphries) Haak, and brothers LeeRoy Haak and H.R. Haak, Jr.
She was a wonderful lady who will be dearly missed by family and friends. Her legacy lives on through the lives of her children and grandchildren.
The funeral honoring the memory of Louise Hemphill was held Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Oakville Baptist Church. The service began at 2 p.m. with graveside service following at the Oakville Cemetery. Visitation was held on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Home, Three Rivers.
Pallbearers were Danny Hemphill Jr., Christopher Hemphill, Grant Hemphill, Charlie Hemphill, Jason Hemphill, Levi Haak, David Halley and Kevin Perrenot.
