Marla Lea Hufford of Pleasanton passed away May 17, 2021, in San Antonio. She was 69 years of age.

Marla is preceded in death by her parents, Harold H. and Naomi (Bell) Hufford, and sisters Sherry Stafford and Robbin Jackson. She is survived by nieces Kristin Jackson of Houston and Amy Bunker of Ann Arbor, Michigan; nephews Luke Stafford of North Conway, New Hampshire and Ryan Jackson of Laredo, plus a number of great-nieces/ nephews.

She was born in Poteet on August 3, 1951, the middle child of three girls. Marla went to Pleasanton schools, where she graduated high school in 1969. She then attended the University of Texas in Austin, where she graduated with a degree and a teaching certificate. She was hired by Pleasanton ISD to teach a special classroom of cognitively-handicapped students of various ages and levels of disability. It was definitely a challenge, and she handled it well. She remained in that position until she retired 33 years later.

In addition to enjoying activities involving singing and playing (guitar), crafts, photography, travel and all kinds of animals, Marla really enjoyed working the family ranch near Tilden. This property has the proud distinction of having been recognized and certified by the State of Texas and Family Land Heritage as a 100-year working ranch.
