What do great music, delicious food, vendors and events involving Chihuahuas mean? It means the Pleasanton Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s fifth annual Market Days on Main Street is happening this Saturday.
It all begins at noon and will last until midnight.
The celebration will feature a headliner that is a powerhouse of talent – Shelly Lares. That talent has earned Shelly numerous award nominations at annual Tejano Music Awards, including Female Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year, Single of the Year, Vocal Duo of the Year (with Mario Flores), Album of the Year and Tejano Country Song of the Year. Shelly writes and co-writes her own material, plays guitar and percussion and sings with a dynamic voice like there is no tomorrow. That is what one would call musical versatility.
Raul “Raulito” Navaira will serve as master of ceremonies for the popular event.
A colorful array of activities is planned, something for all ages – arts and crafts and food vendors, Chihuahua races and Chihuahua King and Queen Coronation, Ballet Folklorico, free movie (courtesy of Plestex Theatre), free salsa lessons by Esmy Macias, Las Coronelas all-female mariachi, street dancing to the live music of the Tony Perez Band, Nick Villarreal Conjunto, Mario Flores & Soda Creek Band, and closing with a bang to the electrifying performance by Shelly Lares.
Event planners Landa Diaz and Margaret Rodriguez promise a powerfully great time. Admission is free – just bring yourself, your friends and neighbors to Pleasanton Market Days on Main Street.
