Marie Joyce Fouts of Beverly Hills, California, passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. She was born in Pleasanton, on March 20, 1927. After completing high school in Pleasanton, she attended the University of Texas in Austin and earned a Fine Arts degree.
From 1943 to 1947 she did secretarial work in San Francisco, California, then moved to Los Angeles. In 1952 she met Hal Fouts and they were married in California in December. They lived in Hollywood for four years and then moved to Beverly Hills.
She devoted much of her time to her art work. Her paintings and drawings were displayed in juried art shows in Los Angeles, CA, and Santa Fe, NM. In addition to her art work, she was active with the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and the Women’s Association at her church until the age of 93. She continued to be active in her art group until her nineties.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles H. and Wilhelmina Troell; and her husband, Hal Fouts. She is survived by her brother, Richard Troell of Pleasanton; her children, Caroline Scott of Paso Robles, CA; a son, Douglas Fouts (Belle) of Salinas, CA; and grandchildren, Noah Fouts, 16; and Payton Fouts, 12.
A celebration of her life is planned to be held during a family reunion in Seguin at a later date.
