The angels came to add another to their choir. On November 3, 2016 Martha Margaret Vrana Ciomperlik went to dance once again with her husband and lifelong love, Phil.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bessie and Adolph Vrana, her brothers Adolph, Jr., Eugene Robert, Raymond Dean, and sister Barbara Louise.
Martha was born December 1, 1929 in Hindes, Texas. She attended Charlotte ISD. Martha married Phil Ciomperlik on November 12, 1946 and went on to have three daughters, Margaret Adel, Regina Elaine and Delaine Shirley.
She worked side by side with Phil until he passed in 2000. They owned and operated Phils Service Station and ice house and the Oasis Club both in Jourdanton. Phil and Martha were a joy to watch as they danced almost every Saturday night and led many grand marches at weddings. They enjoyed hunting together here in the county as well as in Colorado. They raised cattle together all their married life and after Phils passing Martha continued. She enjoyed raising chickens also. She was happiest when she could be feeding chickens, and cows, burning pear (cactus) or driving a tractor.
Everyone always enjoyed her cooking. She would take lunch to Phil every day when he worked in the fields. Her grandchildren looked forward to indulging in her homemade biscuits, Klobosniks and her hot sauce as well as her award winning beans.
Martha was a lifelong member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Jourdanton. She was also a lifelong member of SPJST where she received the Lifetime Achiever award in 2004. She was also awarded Vrana of the Year in 1985.
She is survived by her daughters and brothers Louis Albert Vrana and wife Betty, and Leon Vrana and wife Nancy, sisters Dorothy Tipps and Joyce Stanley and husband Steve. Martha is also survived by nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
