Manuel Gutierrez Jr. was born January 3, 1964, to Manuel Gutierrez Sr. and Margarita Gutierrez in Pleasanton. He was surrounded by his family when he peacefully went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 19, 2020.

Manuel grew up in Poteet, helping his father and grandfather harvest seasonal crops. Manuel was a drummer for several bands in his youth; he was a lover of music. Manuel was successful in his career as an electrician. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time on his boat with family. Manuel was the life of the party anywhere he went and will be remembered for his sharp sense of humor.

Manuel was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and uncle to many. Manuel was survived by wife, Mary Salinas of San Antonio; son, Manuel Gutierrez III; and grandchildren Avery, Absydie, Azalea and Adonis Gutierrez of Poteet; daughter, Raquelynn Gutierrez of La Vernia; mother, Margarita Gutierrez of Poteet; sisters, Sylvia Faz and husband Mike Faz of Poteet, Yolanda Puente and husband Diego Puente of Poteet, Rebecca Balderaz and husband Roy Balderaz of Poteet; and his beloved Dachshund, Trigger. Manuel leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Manuel Gutierrez Jr. is preceded in death by his father Manuel Gutierrez Sr; grandparents, Mariano and Elena Garza; and grandparents, Paz and Herlinda Gutierrez.

There was a visitation for Manuel on Monday, October 26, from 2-9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home, located at 118 W. Oaklawn Road, Pleasanton. The Mass was on Tuesday, October 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Philip of Benizi Catholic Church, located at 274 Avenue H, Poteet, followed by interment at Leal Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Manuel Gutierrez III, Trey Alaniz, Diego Puente Jr., Roy Balderaz Jr., Robert Balderaz and Michael Martinez.

Honorary Pallbearers were Manuel Gutierrez, Roy Balderaz Sr., Mike Faz, Diego Puente Sr., Darian Garza, Ramon Garza, Rudy Perez, and Mariano Garza Sr.
