Lucas Martinez Peña Jr., 72, of Pleasanton, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021, in Jourdanton. He was born October 2, 1948, in Poteet, to Lucas Z. Peña and Corina M. Peña.

Lucas is preceded in death by his parents, Lucas and Corina Peña; and his sisters, Corina Jaynes and Yolanda Guzman.

Lucas was the proud owner and operator of Peña Welding, with his loving wife, Juanita, by his side. He passed down so much love and wisdom to his children and grandchildren that will be carried on for generations. He was a hardworking welder, cattleman, and loved his chickens, who gave him delicious eggs almost every day.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Juanita Peña; daughters, Rachel Schmidt and husband Jeffery, Elsie Peña Vera, and (as Lucas would call him) “wannabe son-in-law” Joseph Goslin, Sarah Lee Peña and “wannabe son-in-law” Bobby Lee McKinney, Luisa Peña- Vasquez and husband Gene; son, Lucas Librado Peña III and his wife Victoria; grandchildren, Kalysa, Ravyn, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ynez, and husband Clay, Adelena, Grace, Gene Anthony, Amia, Brian, Lucas IV, Kaylee; a great-grandson due in July; and his sister, Luisa Gutierez and husband Joe.

The time to visit Lucas, and his family, will be held on Friday, February 19, from 9-11 a.m. The funeral services are at 11 a.m. at Hurleys Funeral Home Chapel, 118 W. Oaklawn Rd., Pleasanton. Interment immediately to follow at San Ysidro Cemetery.
