Drawing on their successes over the past few years, St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church annual festival, to be held this Sunday, October 11, will once again serve more than food, fun and games. Over the years it has transformed into more than 12 hours of fun, with a heavy emphasis on music. Admission is free until noon, then a charge of $5 will be collected at the gate. Children under 12 are free.
They have a huge music line-up that will be sure to please parishioners and visitors alike. The live entertainment will include the Men’s ACT Band, David Lee Garza and Lost Desperadoz.
Last year’s event drew over 4,000 and the church is hoping to exceed this to help pay the debt of their new parish hall facility.
The festival will be held at the Poteet Strawberry Festival grounds. The gates open at 10 a.m. and there will be food booths, kid’s games, drawings for great prizes, bingo and an auction beginning at noon.
Plenty of seating will be available, but everyone is welcomed to bring lawn chairs so that they can be comfortable all day long.
St. Philip Benizi Ballet Folklorico will perform from 1 p.m. to 1:40 p.m.
The big auction will be held from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. with great prizes like designer purses, designer sunglasses, wall crosses, dinner gift certificates, homemade blankets, outdoor bench and much more. All are welcome to come and bid on these great prizes.
Food and Games
Food booths include: hamburgers/cheeseburgers, sausage wraps, strawberry shortcake, turkey legs, corn in a cup, hot dogs, aguas frescas, chalupas, chicken on a stick, sprial potatoes, sodas, water and beer. Bingo will be played, too.
There are $10,000 worth of various gift cards ranging from $50 to $5,000.
Come out and enjoy a full day of food and fun.
