With Veteran’s Day approaching, organizations and businesses across the county are preparing events to honor those who have served. On Nov. 9 at 1:00 p.m., the Military Order of the Purple Heart will proclaim Jourdanton ISD a “Purple Heart ISD”  and supporter of the combat wounded. The ceremony will be held at the Jourdanton High School Stadium and is open to the public. 

Next, on the morning of Nov. 11 , H-E-B is hosting a free Veteran’s Day Breakfast from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. for local veterans, and the First Baptist Church in Pleasanton is hosting a “Veteran’s Breakfast and Day of Refreshing” for veterans and their families at 8:30 a.m in the old fellowship hall. That evening, the Atascosa County American Legion Post #436 will host its free Spaghetti Dinner. Doors will be opened at 5:00 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:00.

On Veteran’s Day, Nov. 12, Poteet ISD is making “Pancakes for Vets”  and invites local veterans to enjoys a free breakfast at the Elementary Cafeteria at 7:30 a.m. Also, Pleasanton Elementary students are encouraged to invite a veteran they know to eat lunch with them. Last, Charlotte Middle School is hosting a Veteran’s Day Program at 3:00 p.m in the new gym.

Each organization wants to honor those who have fought for our country and show their gratitude for the sacrifices each veteran had made. They hope to see you there!
