There are only 18 summers in childhood. How are you going to make your child’s summer count? The easiest way locally is to show up weekly for the City of Pleasanton Parks and Recreation 8-week Summer Program.
It’s free on Tuesdays from 10-noon. There will be a variety of activities such as trades, skills, hobbies and sport-related events, with a local sponsor each week.
June 18, Arts and Crafts at the Civic Center, sponsored by Pleasanton Express. Come join us! We could use a few volunteers over age 12. If interested in helping, please call me (Noel) at 830-569-6130.
June 25, Basketball Camp at the PHS Gym, sponsored by The Navigators.
July 2, Cooking Class at the Civic Center, sponsored by Texas A&M AgriLife.
July 9, Kickball at Sports Complex, sponsored by Parks and Rec.
July 16, Touch-A-Truck at Pleasanton Airport, sponsored by Parks and Rec.
July 23, Ultimate Frisbee at River Park soccer field, sponsored by Parks and Rec.
Today, Pleasanton Express reporter, Rebecca Pesqueda and I took off on a busy deadline driven Press Day to play in the mud with about 150 other children and adults as part of the 8-week program. If you missed it, please go to the Pleasanton Express Facebook page and watch our video of the muddy messy fun. Go to the front page of Living, 9A, for a color collage of the Mudfest.
As mentioned above, the Pleasanton Express will be hosting Arts & Craft at the Civic Center next Tuesday from 10-noon. Come join us and take home a fun summer art piece. Taking part in the Mud Day in the Park today brought back all the fun of summer. Both Rebecca and I got chills as we walked into the orchard which is part of the Pleasanton River Park. It was like walking back into our childhood when summer days were nothing but play. Thank you to the City of Pleasanton and to the fantastic team at the Parks and Recreation for organizing this free family fun. Please read the update on progress in the park on the Front Page. Soft opening is planned for July 4th weekend.
Go visit the Parks and Rec Facebook page and like, follow and share. Those with questions may contact the Civic Center at 830-569-5904.
