Linda Caballero Usborne (November 8, 1950 – December 19, 2017) passed into her Lord’s loving embrace on Dec. 19, 2017 after a 5 year battle against cancer.
Linda was born to Enrique (Henry) and Beatrice Caballero on Nov. 8, 1950 in Three Rivers, Texas; granddaughter of the late Hipolito and Paulita Cadena, lifelong residents of Campbellton, Texas. After moving to San Antonio, Linda was enrolled and educated in Catholic schools, graduating from St. Francis Academy in 1969.
Linda touched thousands of lives during her distinguished 37 year civil service career at Kelly Air Force Base, Air Force Electronic Service Command, Air Intelligence Command and Air Force ISR Agency on Security Hill. She received numerous awards and commendations for exemplary service and devotion to various duties throughout her career.
Linda married her partner for life, Donald (Lou) Usborne on Dec 16, 1990. During their 27 years together, Lou and Linda traveled the world together, enjoyed many local dining establishments, attending music concerts (especially The Mavericks!) and attending her beloved San Antonio Spurs basketball games. Linda always displayed her Spurs “bling” with pride at home and while traveling.
All her life, Linda was an avid sports participant and fan. She loved competing on various softball and volleyball teams and was a loyal supporter of the U.T. Women’s Volleyball team.
Preceded in eternal rest by her father, Enrique (Henry) Caballero, Linda is survived by her husband Lou, mother, Beatrice Caballero, sisters Patricia Clark(Tony), Eva Caballero and niece Hannah Clark. Also, granddaughters Isis, Grace and Shane Usborne, grandsons Darius Usborne and Ian Jude Nira, stepsons Jason and Damian Usborne, many beloved aunts and cousins and life-long friends Sonny and Carol Wood, Jay and Karen Johnson, Lupe and Delores Ramon and Linda’s beloved rescue mini- Schnauzer, Buddy.
