Ahhhh… it’s that time of year again. We will all be surrounded by food and family and being all thankful and such.
Being thankful really is not difficult. Even if life is not going your way at the moment, you can always find something that makes you appreciate what is happening.
At the top of my list? Hands down would be my kids. I realize that most folks will say this but I really am thankful for them. My kids and their spouses are good people – they all chose well! Coming in a close second would be family/friends. What would I ever do without these people? Those that are related – we share that common DNA bond and those friends that are like family – we share experiences that formed a bond.
From lifelong friends to those I’ve met recently – life is more fun and full with these peeps.
I’m also very thankful for just completing my 59th orbit around the sun. And though I’m battling allergies currently, I’ve been relatively healthy those years, too.
Besides missing family members who have passed on, There are new traditions to be made with every new family addition.
So, if you want, try sitting down sometime between now and Thanksgiving and write down a few things you are thankful for. Or just think about it and acknowledge that thought.
It really isn’t that hard.
And if you are having a hard time, just remember these lyrics from the theme song of The Golden Girls – Thank You for Being a Friend, because we all have friends that we are thankful are in our lives.
“Thank you for being a friend
Traveled down a road and back again
Your heart is true, you’re a pal and a confidant”
The way I see it, during this season, be thankful, hold hands, embrace, reminisce and make new memories.
Spread the love to all and keep a thankful heart.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
