Leonhardt appointed to Pleasanton City Council

Robert Leonhardt was appointed and sworn-in as a Pleasanton City Council member on Wednesday, May 17. Leonhardt will now occupy the Place 1 seat vacated by Doug Best, after Best submitted his resignation.

Best who served on the city council for 3 years, announced his resignation and expressed his gratitude to the council members and city.

“This was one of the last things I ever wanted to do…I’m so fortunate to have been working for this city for this amount of time and I am so fortunate to have been working with these council members and the mayor. I just wish there was another way for us to do this. At this time, I respectfully request that the council and the mayor accept my resignation,” said Best.

Several of the council members told Best they would miss him serving on the council and they enjoyed working with him.

“I just want to say also I think who we’re replacing me with will end up being more than happily up for the job…He is an outstanding individual, has real love for the community and he will do an exceptional job,” said Best.

The council then voted to appoint Leonhardt to the council. Judge Rosalinda De La Fuente administered the oath of office to Leonhardt and was met by applause from the audience.
