Laura (Sexton) Imburgin

Laura (Sexton) Imburgin passed away peacefully on January 27, 2012. She was surrounded by her loving husband and her children. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many and will be greatly missed.

Laura was born on February 12, 1933 in Spicewood, Texas to Walter and Irene Jackson. She was one of three children and was raised in Galveston, Texas where she graduated from Ball High School in 1950. She married and moved to Pleasanton, Texas where she raised her five children. She worked for many years in the insurance industry before moving to Austin in 1976 where she went to work for the state agency, Health and Human Services. In 1981, Laura met and married S. John Imburgin. In 1993 she retired so that she and John could enjoy their retirement years together. And they did! They went on many trips to horse races and casinos in Las Vegas and Louisiana.

Laura had a great love for ballroom dancing and they joined the Waltz Club, Let’s Dance Club and 50+ Dance Club in Austin. They could be found on the dance floor several nights a week and made many amazing friends through this passion. Some of their happiest moments were when her children came to the dances with them and they could show off their wonderful dancing skills and introduce them to their friends.

She will be dearly missed and remembered not for any achievements or early rewards, but for the quality of the life she lived to its fullest each day. She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, like her beautiful home, her landscaped yard, her family and, of course, dancing. Laura received pleasure from giving more than receiving and always put others before herself.

Laura is survived by her husband of 31 years, S. John Imburgin; her five children: Diane Sexton from Houston, TX; Linda Dickey (Ray), Cedar Park, TX; Sherry Robins (Dan), Houston, TX; Mike Sexton (Valerie), Lake Jackson, TX; Pat Oswalt (Lonny), Los Gatos, CA. She is also survived by the following grandchildren: Janée and Sarah Sexton, Rachel Robins, Carissa and Michelle Dickey.

A funeral service was held on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas.
