We celebrate the homecoming of a beloved wife and mother. Laura Lucille Richey was born on Saturday, April 3, 1948 in Three Rivers, Texas. She passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 25, 2017.
She was the daughter of Woodrow and Nancy Cowan. She is survived by her siblings; sisters, Diane Allen and husband Ken, Eva Jay and husband Buck, and brother, Gregory Cowan and wife Becky.
Lucille graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1966 where she was involved in FHA, Four H Club. She also played girls basketball.
In 1966, she spotted a handsome man named Leon T. Richey. They were married on September 10, 1966. They had four children who are all present today: her daughter, Janet Blackwell and favorite son-in-law Dawain Blackwell; her son, Dwayne Richey and daughter-in-law Laura Richey; her second son, Troy Richey and daughter-in-law Tina Richey, and second daughter, Michelle Richey. In addition, she was a loved grandmother to Cody, Cole, Nathan, Sarah, Rebecca and Daniel.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow J. and Nancy Lou (Crabill) Cowan.
A few of her favorite things were: Christmas mornings, Old Westerns, canning food, planting, sewing and crafts.
Visitation was held at Hurley Funeral Home, Pleasanton, from 5 – 8 p.m., Friday, October 27. Funeral services were held in the chapel of Hurley Funeral Home at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 28. Interment followed at Pleasanton City Cemetery.
