Larry Akers Jr.
Mr. Larry C. Akers, Jr. of Leming passed away on Thursday, August 31 at the age of 73.
Larry was born in Seguin to L.C. and Melba (Meyers) Akers on Oct. 24, 1943.
Larry is survived by his son, Bubba Akers and wife Maryann, daughter, Elonda Akers, grandchildren, Samantha Akers and Katlan Akers, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 years, Linda Shepard Akers, parents, L.C. and Melba Akers, daughter, Taylor Suzanne Akers, brother, Kenneth Akers, and sister and brother in law, Peggy Akers Healer and husband Warren. Larry was a military man, who proudly served in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict from 1960 to 1964, then he continued in the Naval Reserves until 1966.
He served on the USS Rochester and the USS Salisbury Sound. After finishing his active duty service, he married the love of his life, Linda in 1964.
He worked many different jobs during his life, and enjoyed being self employed during his later years. He loved offshore fishing and family get-togethers, and will be missed for his notorious tricks and pranks.
Larry is rejoicing now with his loved ones who were all awaiting his arrival in Heaven.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 8 from 2-8 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. Funeral services will be graveside on Saturday, September 9 at 10 a.m. at the Shiloh Cemetery near Leming.
Serving as pallbearers are Johnny Healer, Jeff Healer, Danny Joe Moening, Mike Kimble, Wayner Akers, Joe Akers, Donnie Akers and Richard Tyler. Honorary pallbearers are Cody Moening, Jay Healer, Cole Healer and Galen Wagner.
