The Pleasanton volleyball team finished the first half of district play in second place after a pair of wins last week.
The Lady Eagles topped Somerset and Cuero to improve to 3-1 in District 30-4A action.
On Friday, Pleasanton defeated Cuero 25-19, 25-13, 25-14 on the road.
Senior Courtney Ridge led the team with 13 kills, and Kaycie Shannon added nine.
Senior Amber Guerra and Madison McDonald each had 11 assists for the Lady Eagles.
Guerra also led the team with 14 digs. McDonald, Laken McAda and Loryn Hardy each had 11 digs.
Shannon and McAda also had two blocks apiece.
Pleasanton swept Somerset 25-11, 25-16, 25-12 at home Oct. 3.
Shannon led the Lady Eagles with 16 kills against the Lady Bulldogs.
Ridge was second with 12 kills.
Guerra and McDonald were at the top of the assists, racking up 16 and 14, respectively.
McDonald had a team-high 12 digs; Ridge and Guerra had 11 apiece; and Hardy added 10.
Shannon racked up six blocks, while Janessa Ximenez and McAda each had four.
Pleasanton coach Gabriel Aguirre was proud of the way his team responded against Somerset after a loss to district-leading Poteet.
“It was a big win for us after the way we played on Friday,” he said. “The girls bounced back and played a very good match both on defense and offense.”
